MIGHTY MOUNTAINS - Gorana 3rd Int'l Folk Dance Festival is made possible in part with public funds from [Creative Engagement or Creative Learning], supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by LMCC.

Both the Balkans and the Caucasus are especially strategic regions of great importance to regional and international security. The two mountain ranges are connected through the Black Sea and have their capes Emine (Bulgaria) and Pitsunda (Georgia) looking at each other across the sea...

Both Bulgaria and Georgia share essential similarities in their cultural heritage. Among many, St George is celebrated in both places, as well as love and connection for horses. Also, wine and dance accompany each holiday and community gathering, and the polyphonic male and female singing in both country is unique and highly praised around the world as world's wonders.

All of that inspired us to re-connect after last year's festival and to further our relationship by creating a new dance work called "Colors of Love" (music by Thomas Bergerson, courtesy by Extreme Music), where this time we, the artists from GORANA DANCE and DANCING CRANE GEORGIAN THEATER dance together. We had an amazing time in the creative process! Our dance studios were filled with laughter and the sound of 4 different languages: Bulgarian, English, Georgian and Russian, in order to communicate the development of this unique dance. At the end the language of dance prevailed!

We would like to remind our audiences that borders exist only for political reasons, while the people's hearts and their joy to share culture together has none!
